Project Love--June

Yep.  You read that correctly.  It is October.  And I am just now posting about Project Love for June.

It's been three months since I've blogged.  I have no excuse for that, really...

Except for that whole grad school thing, if you count that...

Still, I had hoped for so much better for myself.  Oh well...here goes...

For June, our church-wide project was actually our VBS, which was themed, "Daniel:  Take the Dare!"  This was a wonderful week for many at our church, and I'd love to tell you why.  But, quite frankly, I don't have much time to ramble about it.  And since a picture's worth a thousand words, as they say, I thought maybe I could make up for my lack of blogging over the last three months by sharing a few pics from the week.

Pictured below is Babylon, at least in the mind of Ms. Linda Smith.  I actually was able to help her create her Babylon, where she spent the week teaching about Daniel and his friends' choice to abide by the Hebrew dietary laws, even while in exile, and about the Lord's blessing of their decision to obey Him.  She used the likenesses of a couple of familiar PV faces for the Top Chef and King Nebuchadnezzar. (That would be Pastoral Care Minister Nick Hamilton, and Preaching Minister Chuck Monan, respectively.)  Of course, over in Hebrew corner, teaching the children what was correct was a rather "righteous-looking" Linda!

One thing that really struck me as special was when Ms. Linda taught her kiddos to pray face-down, how many Hebrews did...

Here is another of the "classrooms", which appears to be King Nebuchadnezzar's bedroom, where he had his dream of the statue...

Of course, the best part of VBS is the skits! Here are some of those pics!

Daniel's friends, plus a fourth person, in the fiery furnace...

College/Involvement Minister, Stuart Cash, starring as Daniel, praying to the Lord in the lions' den...

Daniel, taken out of the lions' den after he survived.  I will admit that I particularly enjoyed the last night's skit, as my Blogfather starred as King Darius!  :)

And the hardworking cast of the VBS skits!  These guys all did AWESOME!
