Day One Hundred Thirty-Eight, Proverbs
Advice and rebuke
As iron sharpens iron,
so one man sharpens another.
Value of advisers
Plans fail for lack of counsel,
but with many advisers they succeed.
My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline
And do not resent his rebuke,
Because the Lord disciplines those he loves,
As a father the son he delights in.
Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint;
but blessed is he who keeps the law.
He who conceals his sins does not prosper,
but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.
Righteousness and wickedness
A good man obtains favor from the Lord,
but the Lord condemns a crafty man
A man cannot be established through wickedness,
but the righteous cannot be uprooted.
Integrity and perversion
The man of integrity walks securely,
but he who takes crooked paths will be found out.
When a man’s ways are pleasing to the Lord,
He makes even his enemies live at peace with him.
